Online Counselling

On line therapy provides you with a choice of not only what therapist you see but also where you would like to see your therapist. Although using the internet as way to conduct counselling may have been seen as unconventional a few years ago technology and the Internet are now a significant aspect of our lives. We engage in  many of our closest relationships online via social media and also conduct our business online. Now we can engage in the therapeutic relationships online too.

On-line therapy can be a convenient alternative to face to face therapy for anyone who would prefer to access their support on-line in the comfort of their own home or just choose to remain anonymous.  It is also very well suited to people who experience mobility problems or live in more rural areas where accessing a counsellor can prove difficult.  Additionally, it can provide an opportunity for counselling for those who work unsociable hours, have childcare issues or support someone with a disability.

Online counselling can help with the majority of issues that face to face counselling can however there are some instances where it would not be suitable form of therapy. Once we have made contact and explored what your issues are I will inform you if I believe it would be detrimental to us both to continue. I will endeavour to  signpost you to more appropriate organisations to help you with your problems.

Some of the issues I  work with on-line are stress, depression, bereavement, bullying anxiety, abuse, domestic violence, low self esteem, low self confidence , sexuality although this list is not exhaustive.

The two types of  On-line counselling services I provide are:

  • E-mail
You can send approx. one hours worth of writing (but no more than two A4 size pages), which I will reply to once a week on a day that is mutually agreed. I use encrypted e-mail at safe-mail.com to ensure your privacy and ask that you also do the same. (I can explain in more detail how to do this.)
  • Instant Messaging
This would be through Skype at a mutually agreed time and would last for 60 minutes.

I am happy to provide you with a free initial 15 minute consultation to help you decide if on-line counselling is right for you. This will take place by Skype (on-lne chat).  Enquiries are always free of charge and without obligation. If you would like a free 15 minute taster session on Skype, please email when you are available and I will respond.
